The 2012 North Pole Expedition was undertaken and sponsored by Per Ardua to support the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards’ Soldiers and Families.

Simon Hearn (Per Ardua, CEO), and son Alex Hearn (also in the insurance industry as Founder of Slipcase), began with training in Minnesota, where they were really put through their paces practicing hauling their kit, plunging into minus 20 degree icy water, followed by a swift run to the sauna!

The expedition itself began with an early morning start, after camping on a frozen lake amidst stunning scenery and sunrises.

The entire team of polar explorers, alongside Simon and Alex Hearn, were ecstatic to reach the North Pole and to have raised funds for the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards’ Soldiers and Families.
