Kate Hammar, Real Estate Practice Lead, and Alex Langridge, Technology, Data and FinTech, attended the PropTECH: Future conference on 14th May. The fifth time that the conference has been held in London.
Attended by over 2,000 influencers, proptech and Real Estate executives, 2019 is the most popular that the conference has ever been. This year was notable for the attendance of a large number of executives from the business i.e. non-technology side of real estate.
There was an impressive roster of speakers from the leading proptechs and real estate players e.g. JLL, Blackstone, CBRE and LGIM. The presence of a number of leading American Proptech investors was impressive and the insights from Softbank, Fifth Wall and Moderne Ventures can give the European proptech scene a lot of encouragement.
The agenda was wide-ranging across the range of topics where technology is affecting Commercial Real Estate. The biggest topic to emerge was data – its availability, usage and ability to supplement. Whilst the average European proptech remains small, it is clear that there is potential disruptive threat to the industry coming from newer data-driven players.
We look forward to attending next year.
